‘Muthyala Talambralu’ for Bhadrachalam Sri Sitarama Kalyanam are prepared on Phalguna Pournami (Holi festival), Full Moon day in Phalguna Masam in Telugu calendar. In 2018, preparation of Muthyala Talambralu is being done on March 1.

Talambralu is sacrificial rice with kumkum, turmeric powder, gulal, other scented items. Talambralu is a very important ritual in Hindu marriage where the bride and bridegroom sit opposite to each other and place the sacrificial rice on the heads of each other.

Women devotees embarked on preparation of ‘mutyala talambralu’ (mixture of sacred rice with pearls) with ingredients like turmeric, sandalwood and vermilion using traditional grinding tools at Chitrakuta Mandapam on the occasion.

More than 500 kgs of Talambralu are prepared for Sita Rama Kalyanam, divine marriage ceremony in Bhadrachalam Sri Sitaramachandra Swamy Temple in Bhadradri district of Telangana.

As a part of ‘Ulookhala Veduka’, Goddess Lakshmi and Lord Vishnu are installed (Avahana) into a Mortor (Rolu) and Pestle (Rokali) respectively. First, the women of the houses of Ruthviks (Vedic Pandits) who take part in Sitarama Kalyanam on Sri Rama Navami place the turmeric roots in mortor and grind it with pestle to powder.

It is believed that on this day Sri Sita Rama Kalyanam was held in the Treta Yuga. Mangala Snanam (ceremonial bath) was held to Lord Sri Rama on this occasion with 25 Kalashas.

A series of spiritual events, including Dolotsavam, marked the celebration of Vasanthosavam on the occasion of Holi festival at the historic temple on Thursday.
