Swami Muktananda Paramahamsa, Muktananda (1908 –1982), who is also called as Swami Muktananda, was a great guru in Yoga and in deep form of meditation, and he was a disciple of Bhagavan Nityananda. He wrote books on spirituality and Yoga, and he is also simply referred to as Baba. His birth name was Krishna Rai.
Swami Muktananda was born in 1908 near Mangalore in the then Madras Presidency, during the time of British Rule, to a rich family. At his younger age itself, he had got a golden opportunity to meet Sri Bhagawan Nityananda, who has changed his entire life through his excellent spiritual teachings. After finding his right Guru, Krishna left his wealthy home, and began his search to get the divine vision of the god. He studied under a Swami in Hubli, and there he learnt Yoga, meditation, Vedas and Sanskrit. Soon he has attained the holy sainthood with the name of Swami Muktananda. Then Swami Muktananda wandered all over India, by the way of walk, and interacted with many different saints and gurus.
After finishing his long journey, Muktananda lived and meditated in a small hut in Yeola. He wrote about his divine experiences in his autobiography. Muktananda ask us to “See the God in others” and also ask us to see the god within our soul itself, and he frequently asked his disciples to keep on meditating till they get the feeling of divine enlightenment.
Muktananda died in the year 1982 in Ganeshpuri, India. He was buried but his ashes were put under his Samadhi Shrine, which was constructed by his disciples and followers.
But, however, some controversies arouses immediately after his death. It is believed that, some of his female disciples were expressed their interaction with their Guru S wami Muktananda, that sometimes he even used to have body relationship with them by stating that it would also give a great pleasure for the body and soul, and termed that act as “SEXOTHERAPY”.
But, however let us forget the negative side of Swami Muktananda, and think only about his positive side, and praise him for his great contribution in the field of Spirituality, Yoga and Meditation.
