Margasira Masam utsavam in 2025 at Kanakamahalakshmi temple, Vizag dates – November 27, December 4, December 11 and December 18. Celebrations and rituals are celebrated throughout the month of Margashiram at the temple.

Actually, the Margashira Masostavam 2025 begins on 21 November. A month-long festivities are celebrated at the temple.

Festivities begin in the morning with panchamruta abhishekam to Goddess Kanaka Mahalakshmi and Sahasranama kumkuma puja. After that, Ksheerabhishekam (abhishekam with milk) was performed to the deity. Pujas were continued till the evening. Lalitha Sahasranamam and Annamayya krithis (sankirthanas) were recited in the morning.

Thousands of devotees throng to the temple on the first day of Margasira masam. Temple is decorated with flower garlands and illuminated with lights. During the whole month of Margashira, Durga Saptashathi, Mahavidya homam, Lakshmi homam and Sri Chakra puja are conducted.

Sahasraghatabhishekam would be performed in December 2025. Rathayatra will be held a couple of days prior to the final Thursday.

Astalakshmi alankaram is the main attraction of Goddess Kanaka mahalakshmi during the Margashira month. On Thursdays during the month are considered highly auspicious. Grand arrangements are made for devotees to attend the events and get blessed by Goddess Kanaka Mahalakshmi.

This special Lakshmi Puja is conducted to seek comfort, peace, and prosperity, and devotees decorate their homes, light lamps with cow ghee mixed with turmeric, offer jaggery and chickpeas, and chant the mantra “श्रीं कमलायै नमः” 108 times. The puja is traditionally performed facing west, with offerings including kesar and yellow flowers, and involves rituals such as abhishek with turmeric-mixed water and feeding rice to birds to overcome accidents.​

The Margashira Purnima (full moon) also holds significance during this period, with the Purnima Tithi starting on December 4, 2025, early morning and ending post-midnight on December 5, 2025. The pooja and daan on Margashira Purnima are auspiciously performed between sunrise and noon.​
