Mandar Saptami Vrat, observed in Magh Month, dedicated to Surya Bhagawan (Sun God). In 2026, Mandar Saptami Vrat date is January 25.
Mandar Saptami falls on Shukla Paksha Saptami in Magh Maas as per Hindu Calendar. It is also popularly observed as Ratha Saptami.
During Mandar Saptami Vrat, on Panchami day, the Vrati (performer of the Vrat) would consume minimal food and on Shashti the Vrati would observe fasting. In the night, Vrati would eat Mandar Pushp (flowers of Mandar i.e. Coral tree). The next day, eight Mandar flowers are fed to a Brahmin.
Surya Bhagwan is worshipped on Mandar Saptami day with Shodashopachar Pooja.
This Vrata is mentioned in the Padma Purana and Matsya Purana.
