Mahesh Jayanti, an annual festival celebrated by Maheshwari community in North India. Mahesh Jayanti is observed on Navami in Shukla Paksha of Jyestha month (June). In 2017, Mahesh Jayanti date is June 3.
This festival is dedicated to Lord Shiva as Mahesh is another name for Lord Shankar. It is believed that on this day Lord Mahesh was appeared for first time.
Maheshwari community is named after Lord Mahesh because of their utmost devotion towards the Lord.
On Mahesh Jayanti day, Maheswari community was formed in Rajasthan. Lord Mahesh along with his consort Goddess Parvati is worshipped on this festival by the business community.
