Kattumannarkoil Kathayee Amman Temple… There is a wonderful temple for Kathayee Amman which is just located two kms far away from Kattumannarkoil, located on the banks of river Vadavaru. We can find plenty of Autos which are available from Kattumannarkoil bus stand. It is located 30 kms far away from Chidambaram. The temple is kept open from 6 to 11.30 am and from 4.30 to 8 pm. Apart from Kurunkudil Kathayee Amman holding her beloved child Murugan (Kuzhandai Amman), we can also find the shrines of Pachai Vazhi Amman on her right side holding with a holy conch and Sudarsana Chakra (Holy disc) in her hands since she is believed to be an aspect of Lord Mahavishnu, and Poonkurathi Amman on Her left in the costume of a Kurathi, and she is considered to be an aspect of Ma Valliamman. Since Three Ammans are found together in a single shrine, devotees, worship all of them to strengthen the bonds between consorts, parents and siblings. As Kathayee is holding the Child Murugan, she is worshipped for safe delivery of children.
Lord Shiva is having a separate shrine (Kailasa Sivan) facing South. Special poojas are offered on Thursdays. For villagers who live in and around Kattumannarkoil, Ma Kathayee Amman is said to be either their family deity or of their beloved deity.
We can also find the shrines of the village guardian deities like Muthumuni, Jadamuni etc in the temple.
