Guru Purnima, also known as Vyasa Purnima, is the one of the most celebrated festival in Gangapur Dattatreya temple, Deval Gangapur, Karnataka. It falls on full moon day in Ashada month (July). In 2023, Guru Purnima date is July 3.
This is the most auspicious day to worship one’s Guru and Guru Parampara. Datta Paduka Puja is the main ritual of Guru Purnima day in Gangapur temples.
Lord Dattatreya and his holy avatars – Sripada Sri Vallabha, Sri Nrusimha Saraswati Swami, and Sri Shirdi Sai Baba are worshipped with special pujas. It is also celebrated as special festival in Amaraja Sangam temple where Nrusima Saraswati swami observed penance for several years. Free Annadaana or Prasad distribution is performed by Dattaguru temple trust on this special occasion.
