Govind Dwadasi (Nrusimha Dwadasi), 5 March 2012

Today, 5 March 2012 is Govind Dwadasi (Nrusimha Dwadasi). It falls on Dwadasi in Shukla Paksha of Phalgun Month. Govinda Dwadashi is celebrated with utmost gaiety in Tirumala Tirupati Temple, Puri Jagannath Temple, and many other Vishnu temples. Ganga Snan (ritual bath in River Ganga) on Govind Dwadasi is considered highly meritorious. Lord Vishnu is worshipped with the name of ‘Pundarikaksha’ on this auspicious day.

Nrusimha Dwadasi is another name for Govind Dwadasi. It is celebrated with lot of fervor in Narasimha Swamy Temples of Yadagirigutta, Simhachalam, Dharmapuri, Kadiri, Antarvedi, Korukonda, Nachagiri (Nacharam), Ahobilam, Mangalagiri & Tarigonda in Andhra Pradesh and Bidar Narasimha Swamy Temple in Karnataka & Ramapuram Sri Lakshmi Narasimhar Temple in Chennai, Tamil Nadu.
