Aranmula Uthrittathi is a grand boat event which is organized during the time of Onam. This is an annual event which takes place in Aranmula on the day of Uthrittathi Asterism. There is a story behind this event and accordingly it is believed that on this day Lord Krishna crosses the river.
People believe that on this particular day the spirit of Lord Krishna is blessing all those who are present on all the boats and therefore by no means there is any competition amongst people. A lot many people come to Aranmula to watch and enjoy the pleasure of the event. Some people visit temples to offer Valla Sady as vazhipadu to the Lord Krishna.
Procession of Decked Elephants
Trichur is the cultural capital of Kerala where various festivals take place. One such event is a procession of beautified, decorated and shining elephants on the streets of the city. People of all age ground especially children enjoy the procession of elephant. People also sing songs and dance on the streets to mark the event.
Celebration at Cheruthuruthy
Cheruthuruthy, a small village in the north of Trissur district , houses a famous Kathakali Training Centre of Kerala Kalamandalm. On the occasion of Onam best Kathakali artists from all over the state visit Cheruthuruthy and give their performance. People from all walk of life visit Cheruthuruthy to watch the performance and enactment of various episodes from folk tales and epics.
