Faagan month or Falgun month fifth month in Gujarati calendar followed in Gujarat and some other western parts of India. Faagan month 2018 begins on February 16 and ends on March 17.
Fagan month is a period of time in which Punam or Full Moon falls on Purv Faagan or Uttar Fagan nakshatra. Holi and Dhuleti are the major festivals celebrated in Gujarati Falgun month. The same calendar is followed in Maharashtra, Karnataka, Goa, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.
Sud Paksh in Fagan month 2018 starts on February 16 and ends on March 1.
Vad Paksh in Falgun month 2018 begins on March 2 and ends on March 17.
Fagan mahina is the auspicious period for Shiva Puja and Sri Krishna Puja. In ISKCON temples and Swaminarayan Temple, Faagan mahina marks many celebrations. Holashtak, Vasantotsav, and Dhuleti Fuldolotsav are the important events among them.
