It is to be noted that Markandeya Purana and the Vishnu Purana give elaborated detailed description of all kinds of benefits or outcome that are resulting from the observance of Ekadashi vrata.

According to the Hindu religious scholars and pundits, the eleventh day after the new and the full moon is largely known as Ekadashi. These auspicious days are two per month that is one each in the dark and bright half of the month.

Among the Hindu religious devotees, Ekadashi is largely known as a sacred or holy day. It is strongly believed that cartloads of all types of negative karmic reactions are totally decreased or removed if devotees are fasting; indulging in prayer and deep meditation is perfectly observed on this particular day.

Deciding to totally refrain from food is a spiritual, mental and physical discipline that really helps in burning up the habits of all types of addictive behaviours. A person should refrain from texting from mobile or computer, it is better to keep the mobile and computer switched off for the whole day.

The family who are observing Ekadashi Vrat should refrain from watching television or hearing radio or tape recorder songs. It is better not to use electricity. A person should maintain silence and try not to indulge in speaking excessively on any personal and professional matters.
