11 November 2015 is Diwali, Deepavali festival. Diwali falls on Kartik Month Amavasya in North Indian Hindi calendars and on Ashwin Amavasya in Gujarati, Telugu, Kannada & Marathi calendars.

Diwali, the festival of lights, is celebrated for five days in many places of India. Deepavali day is the third day of 5-day Diwali celebrations. The extravaganza begins on Dhanteras (Dhan Trayodasi) and ends on Bhai Dooj.

Abhyanga Snana (ritual bath or ceremonial bath), Lakshmi Puja, Kubera Puja, Indra Puja, Chopda Pujan, Sharda Pujan, Lekhini Pujan, Saraswati Pujan, Muhurat Pujan, Shubh Labh Pujan, Khatha Pujan, etc are the main rituals of Deepavali festival day.

Kedareshwara Vratham (Kedara gauri Vratham) is observed on Deepavali in many parts of Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu.

While bursting crackers, please follow safety guidelines mentioned in Hindupad.

Perform Lakshmi puja with utmost devotion.

Light diyas to throw out the darkness from our lives and from our hearts.
