Dharani Vrata is an auspicious puja dedicated to Lord Vishnu. In 2020, Dharani Vrata dates – November 26 and 27. It is observed on Shukla Paksha Ekadashi and Dwadashi in Kartik Month as per Hindi, Marathi, Gujarati, Kannada and Telugu calendars.
‘Dharni’ means the Earth. Bhudevi (Bhumata) is also worshipped during Dharni Vrat along with Lord Vishnu.
Surabhi Puja, Go Mata Puja & Nandini vratham is also observed on this Dwadasi day. Tithi of Dharani Vrata may differ in some places of India.
Lord Vishnu is worshipped on Ekadashi day and Jagaran is observed on this day. The next day (Dwadashi), five Brahmins are fed and offered Sambhavana (Dakshina).
This Vrata is observed by Maa Dharti herself for Vishnu, hence the name Dharani Vrata.
