Ma Brahmaputra, the Sacred River

The holy river Ma Brahmaputra originates from the holy Manasarovar Lake which is situated near Mount Kailash, in the Himalayan Mountain ranges at Tibet and it flows through Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Bangladesh. It is one of the biggest rivers in the world, and this River is considered as sacred similar to the holy River Ganges.

As per ancient legend, Brahmaputra was the daughter of Lord Brahma, and she resides in the Brahma Loka. Her other name was Brahma Putri, the daughter of Lord Brahma. In course of time, Lord Brahma decided to send her to the earth, in order to purify the humans. Due to that, several thousands of years back, she left from the Brahma Loka, and after getting the permission from the ocean god Varuna, she began to originate from the Manasarovar Lake in the Holy Mountain Himalayas.

Due to the divine touch of Ma Brahmaputra, several holy sages, kings, queens and saints have attained salvation. She removes the sins of her devotees, purifies their mind, and makes them to concentrate their attention on Bhakti. Since Ma Brahmaputra originates from the Kailash Manasarovar, she is also considered to be the daughter of Shiva-Parvati. She contains great powers, and she blesses all of her devotees, and relieves them from pain and mental stress, and gives a satisfied life to them. Ma Brahmaputra was mentioned inour holy Puranas, Vedas and in other sacred texts of Hinduism.

Similar to worshipping the gods, goddesses and demigods, we must have to compulsorily worship the holy rivers like, Ganga, Yamuna, Tapti, Narmada, Godavari and Brahmaputra. All of them are considered as female river goddesses, and they nicely discharge their duties as per the instructions given by their master Lord Varuna Bhagavan. We have to worship them as mother goddesses, in order to attain goodness in our lives.
