Basoda Puja 2021

4 April 2021 is Basoda Puja (Shitala Ashtami pooja). Sheetla Ashtami is the festival dedicated to Goddess Sheetala Devi, observed on the eighth day after Holi festival in North India. It falls on Krishna Paksha Ashtami in Chaitra month.

It is mainly celebrated in Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, and some other North Indian states.

The preceding day of Sheetla Ashtami (3 April 2021) is celebrated as Sheetla Saptami Pujan.

Goddess Sheetala Devi, also known as the Goddess of Smallpox, is worshipped for the better health and best life of children.
