16-days Mahalakshmi Vrat
Akshaya Tritiya or Akshaya Trithiya is one of the most auspicious days for Hindus. In 2023, Akshaya Tritiya date is April 22, Saturday.
It is celebrated on the third day of the bright half of Vaishakha Maas (Vaishakha Shukla Tritiya or Thadiya). This year, Krittika Nakshatra prevails till the midnight on Wednesday.
On 22 April 2023, there is Ayushman Yoga till 9.26 AM and then Saubhagya Yoga begins. It is an auspicious time for buying gold, silver and starting new ventures, etc..
As per the Hindu traditions and culture, this festival is considered as the most significant day to perform sacred deeds (Punya Karya).

My mother ceremony usually falls before one day of akshyathridhi , thidhi is DWITIYA ,patkshya SUKLA PAKSHA , in this year we are getting two one is on April 16 , the other is on May 15. But my mother expired in chitirai month. Please suggest which date we should take for thidhi ( Apr 16 or May 15 th).

As you are saying that your mother’s ceremony falls before a day of Akshaya Thadiya then you can follow this. You can perform the thidhi on the day before Akshaya Thadiya… i.e. May 15.
Akshaya Thtitiya 2010 16th April falls during kshaya paksha with 13 days in that paksha, is considered in-auspicious for Shubha Karyas according to our panchangam. Can we perform grihapravesh on that day?
Akshay Tritiya 2010 date is May 16 and not April 16. April 16 is Adhika Vaishaka Tritiya which is considered not auspicious. Shubhakaryas are avoided in Adhika masam. Adhika masam is Shunya masam as per Hindu Panchangam. So we can do any shubhakarya on Akdhay Tritiya (May 16, 2010).
Sorry ,the day referred is actually 16th May 2010 and not 16th April 2010(wrongly mentioned in my query) and the former only falls during kshaya paksha (13 Days). Your further comments please.
May 16 falls during Kshaya paksha as you mentioned. The day is not auspicious for Gruhapravesham. It is a good day for marriage but not for Gruhapravesh as per Hinduism. Gruhapravesham is usually performed early in the morning. There is Durmuhurtham and varjam during brahma muhurtam and till 7’0 clock in the morning. Hence it is not auspicious for gruha pravesham. Akshya Tritiya is on 5/5/11 in USA, it is when the Sun and Moon are both exalted. In USA it actually starts on the evening on 5/4 and last into the morning ( 9 am) on 5/6.

Yes, Akshaya Tritiya is a good day for buying 4 wheeler or any other valuable thing generally. And it also depends on personal horoscope too.
This year’s Akshaya Trithiya is the most inauspicious day as the whole day is Marana yoga or athiganda. And with the current price of gold, it is better to postpone buying, and, certainly do not buy in Marana Yoga.
