Aksharabhyasam Pooja Items List is given here. Aksharabhyasam (Akshara Sweekaram – Akshara Sreekaram – Vidyarambham) is a ceremony which marks the initiation of education for a child.

Mostly, Aksharabhyasam is performed at Temples, not in houses. Basar Saraswati Temple, Vargal Saraswati Temple, Vijayawada Kanakadurga Temple in Andhra Pradesh; Kollur Mookambika Devi Temple in Karnataka; Saraswati Temple in Koothanur of Tamil Nadu; and number of Saraswati Temples in Kerala are the famous Temples to perform Aksharabhyasam (Vidyarambham).

Here is the list of items needed for Aksharabhyasam Pooja… 

Turmeric powder – 1 Packet

Kumkuma – 1 Packet

Sandalwood paste/powder – 1 Packet

Camphor – 1 Packet (Arathi Karpooram)

Incense Sticks 1 Packet (Agarbatti)

Flowers – basket full

Fruits – 6 Bananas and other fruits

Coconuts – 2 to 5.

Rice – 2 to 5 kgs

Betel leaves & nuts – 21 leaves and 20 nuts

Naivedyam – Payasam, Kheer or Pongal or any other recipe (devotees’ choice)

Slate & Chaulk or Notebook & Pen – each 1 for the child.

The performers also distribute slates, notebooks, and pens to other children nearby the temple or who are present at the place of celebration.
