Akhilanda Koti Brahmanda Nayaki Maa Shakti

The title “AKILANDA KOTI BRAHMANDA NAYAKI” refers to Ma Shakti Devi, since her Vishwaroopa (Divine) Form is mentioned in the Devi Bhagavatha Purana. In the Devi Mahatmya, Ma Shakti Devi is mentioned as the one, who is responsible for creation, protection and destruction duties, and she is considered as the “UNIVERSAL MOTHER” of the entire universe. All the living beings exists only through her grace, and through her innumerable powers, she protects her devotees and also showers her motherly affection on them.

For the comfort of her devotees, she dwells in several temples in the earth, and her great powers are fully filled up in those temples. The idol installed in the Shakti Devi temples contains supreme powers, since they are installed only after chanting lot of divine mantras, and her idols contains immeasurable powers. But still some of the people consider the idols of Ma Shakti Devi as ordinary stones, since they hate idol worship. The system of idol worship is there since several centuries, and it is a must to worship the deities in the form of idols, since most of the devotees would get faith on the goddess only after worshipping the idol, since they strongly believe, that Ma Shakti Devi dwells in her idols.

Similar to Shakti Devi, deities such as Vinayaka, Muruga, Shasta, Hanuman, Shiva and Vishnu are also called as “AKILANDA KOTI BRAHMANDA NAYAKA”. Apart from deities, saints like Guru Raghavendra and ShirdiSaibaba are also praised by the devotees as “AKILANDA KOTI BRAHMANDA NAYAKA”, since these holy saints contain the entire powers of the god, due to their supremacy. Minor deities like Indra, Chandra, Varuna and Vayu, also contain sufficient powers to protect the mankind, but they are classified only as demigods.

Ma Shakti Devi is mainly worshipped by her devotees, to lead a peaceful, blessed and a comfortable life. When Lord Krishna takes the Vishwaroopa form during the previous Dwapara Yuga, he says, “I am acting as the “YOGAMAYA”, another name for Ma Shakti Devi, and there is no difference between me and my sister, Ma Shakti Devi, in fact, I am able to take this Vishwaroopa form, only through the grace of my sister, Ma Shakti Devi”.
