100 post offices throughout India are designated for Amarnath Yatra registrations 2012. Registrations for Amarnath Yatra 2012 begins on May 7 and the pilgrimage starts on June 25. According to Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board (SASB), “for the first time, 100 post offices across the country will also register for the yatra along with 174 branches of the Jammu and Kashmir Bank”.
The Himalayan cave of Amarnath contains an ice stalagmite structure believed to symbolise the powers of Lord Shiva and draws thousands of pilgrims.
