Purnima or Poornima or Full Moon in April 2014 is known as Chaitra Purnima in Hindu Calendar. Hanuman Jayanti is celebrated on Chaitra Purnima day in Maharashtra, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, and some other states in India.

This Full Moon is the first Poornima in Jaya nama samvatsara (Hindu Year 2014-2015).

Chaitra Purnima falls in Chithirai Masam in Tamil Calendar and Meda Masam in Malayalam Calendar.

Chithirai Pournami marks the huge celebrations in Goddess Devi temples in Tamil Nadu.

Chaitra Purnima marks the end of Chaitra Mahina in North Indian Hindi calendar. It is the last day of Shukla Paksha in Chaitra month as per Telugu, Gujarati, Kannada, and Marathi calendars.

Purnima begins at 1.13 PM on 14th April and ends on 15th April at 1.12 PM.

14 April 2014 is observed as Hanuman Jayanti Upvaas.

  1. Chitra purnima should be after Chitra puthu varusham. According to tamil calander it will be after the 13th April and before 14th May.
