Karva Chauth or Karaka Chaturthi is the important festival observed in North Indian states. Karva Chauth 2012 date is November 2. It is a major fast for married women and those who want to get married soon. They offer prayers seeking long life of their husbands and marital bliss.
Kava Chauth falls on the fourth day after Sharad Purnima, the Full Moon day in Ashwin month. It is celebrated on Kartik Krishna Chaturthi nine days before Diwali festival.
Karva Chauth is a fast to observe with utmost dedication. The fast begins before the sunrise and concludes after worshipping the Moon God in the night. No food or even water is avoided after sunrise. Karva Chauth is a similar festival to Atla Thaddi, a regional festival of Andhra Pradesh which is celebrated the day before Karva Chauth.
It is to note that in Hawaii Karwa Chouth 2012 date is November 1. In foreign countries such as USA, UK, Australia, New Zealand, Malaysia, Singapore, Dubai (UAE), Karva Chauth 2012 date is November 2.

i want to know if we observe karva chauth without water but during preganancy can we drink water and have fruits.

Pregnant women come under exceptional cases. During pregnancy you can have fruits and juices and water comfortably.
Every ritual and puja in Hinduism has a great purpose. No puja is observed to kill our body cells. Fasting for few days in an year destroys bad cells of our body and gives new energy to us.
You can take juices and fruits along with water. Dedication and devotion is important not the puja procedure and rules.

Hi Rachana, Karwa Chauth 2010 date is October 26th as per all Standard Indian Hindu calendars. Krishna paksha Chaturthi in Kartik mahina 2010 begins at 9.30 am on 26th October and ends at the same time on 27th October. Sankashti chaturthi is observed on the day when Chaturthi remains in the afternoon and evening. Sankashti Chaturthi in Kartik month is known as Karwa Chauth. Hence, the date of Karva Chauth 2010 is October 26th.
