Audumbar Datta Temple | Sri Kshetra Audumbar

Audumbar Datta Temple (Sri Kshetra Audumbar) is one of the popular temples of Lord Dattatreya. Audumbar Dattatreya Mandir is located in Sri Kshetra Audumbar in Sangli district of Maharashtra.

Audumbar Sri Kshetra Temple is said to have been built in the honor of Narasimha Saraswati Swamy, the second incarnation of Lord Dattatreya. Gangadhar Saraswathi’s Shree Guru Charitra explains the greatness of Sri Nrusimha Saraswati in an elaborated manner.

Since this place is overgrown with Audumbara tress, this place has got the name of ‘Sri Kshetra Audumbar’.

The legend associated to Sri Kshetra Audumbar tells that as per the vision of Lord Dattatreya to Brahmanand Rishi, he discovered this divine sacred place where Datta Avatar Nrusimha Saraswati performed Chaturmas Anushtan.

Dattatreya Jayanti (Margashirsha Purnima), Guru Pratipada (Magha Krishna Pratipada), Sri Guru Purnima (Ashada Pournami) and Rishi Panchami (Swamyji’s Jayanti – Bhadrapada Shukla Panchami) are the grand festivals celebrated here in Audumbar Temple. Gudi Padwa, Shravan Month, Ganesh Chaturthi, Devi Navratri, Dussehra, Dhanteras and Diwali, Kartik Month, etc. are some another festivals celebrated at this temple.
