Falgun Purnima or the Full Moon day in Falgun month is celebrated as the festival of colours, Holi. In 2011, Holi date is 19 March, Saturday. But in some places, it is also celebrated on 20 March, Sunday. Supermoon will be visible on the sky tonight, (19 March 2011, Saturday) . Supermoon will be 14% larger and 30% brighter than normal moon.

Pournami in Panguni masam is celebrated as Panguni Uthiram in Tamil Nadu. Dola Yatra or Dola Purnima is celebrated on this day in Bengal and Orissa.

Chaitanya Jayanti is one of the main celebrations on Falgun Purnima. Shri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu is believed as the incarnation of Lord Krishna by his devotees.

Falgun Purnima is also known as the birth day of Goddess Lakshmi and celebrated as Lakshmi Jayanti. Lakshmi Puja is an auspicious ritual to perform on Holi festival day.

There are many rumors that the Supermoon on 19 March 2011 which is visible after 18 years will cause natural disasters etc. But Hindu Astrologers and even the NASA scientists denying this. The Supermoon is 14% larger than the normal Moon and 30% brighter than other Full Moon days. As every Purnima and Amavasya brings some sort of heavy tides in the seas and the Oceans, this time also there are larger predictions of higher sea tides.

As Tsunami Earth-quake affected Japan a week ago, this Supermoon has got greater significance. There will be no worry for us. Hindu Astrology condemns all these rumors. Please be happy.
