Vinayaka Chaturthi idol immersion sites in Vellore, Tamil Nadu..
The district administration, in collaboration with the Tamil Nadu Pollution Control Board (TNPCB) has identified the water bodies for the immersion of Vinayaka idols during the forthcoming Vinayaka Chathurthi festival that falls on August 29.
In an official release, Collector Nanthagopal said the water bodies that have been identified are Vellore Fort moat, Oossur tank, Karugamputhur tank (for Vellore taluk), Thandalam tank, Puliyanthangal tank (for Ranipet), Arcot tank and Veppur tank (for Arcot), Thirukulam tank (for Sholinghur), Mangammapettai tank and Maveru tank (for Arakonam), Nellurepet tank (For Gudiyattam), Sanankuppam tank (for Ambur), Palar (for Vaniyambadi) and Ponneri tank (for Tirupattur).
The release also stated that the idols should be immersed only in the above mentioned water bodies.
The devotees have also been urged to worship idols made of mud and not any other chemical materials as it would pollute the water bodies.
