King Vikramaditya’s Divine Sword

King Vikramaditya’s Divine Sword… Vikramaditya was a great emperor of ancient India. He was a great personality, and gives respect to the learned scholars in his court.

Ancient legends, praises him as a great king and a person who contains great valour, who is well known for his courage and kindness among his people. He was the ruler of Ujjain. He ruled several thousands of years before, and is still given respect by the people all over India. A temple is also dedicated to him in Ujjain.

King Vikramaditya had once possessed one divine golden sword which was presented to him by Lord Indra as a token of expressing his bravery and valour. Once as per the wishes of Lord Indra, King Vikramaditya went to the Swarka Loka, and participated in the Devasura War (The war between the divine demi gods and the demons). There he was stood at the side of the Devas and helped Lord Indra to win in the battle.

Vikramaditya’s sword shines like the shining sun, and it has to power to defeat several thousands of people at one stretch! This magical and mythological sword is equivalent to that of the divine sword Nandhaka, which is the favourite weapon of Lord Vishnu. In another battle, when Lord Indra asked King Vikramaditya to wage a war with the great Demon King Prahalad, he obeyed the orders of Devaraj Indra, and used his divine sword to pierce King Prahalada into pieces. But when it touches the chest of Prahalada, it didn’t hurt him, but it circumambulates the great Prahalada for three times, and finally it returned to the hands of King Vikramaditya. But anyhow, Prahalada doesn’t want to continue the war, since he kept great respect on King Vikramaditya, and immediately he went away from the battle field!

It is believed that this divine sword reached the hands of Lord Indra, immediately after the death of King Vikramaditya. In our ancient Bharat, several great Divine Kings like Vikramaditya, Prahalada, Rama and Krishna were ruled over successfully and they also gave a good golden rule.

Ancient Kings used only weapons like sword, mace, bow and arrow and spear, and with those weapons, they were able to defeat huge armies. But at the present period, even if we use modern weapons like guns, sometimes, we are not able to fetch victory over our enemies, and due to that sometimes we might think over of again using our old weapons like sword and spear to pierce our enemies into pieces during war times!
