Vaishakh mas or Vaishakh month is the 2nd month in traditional Hindu Marathi calendar followed in Maharashtra. In 2015, Vaishakh mahina begins on April 19 and ends on May 18.
The similar calendar is followed in Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka and Gujarat. Vaisakhmas is dedicated to Lord Vishnu and is also known as Madhav Maas in Vaishnava calendar.
Vaishakh Snan is the main ritual observed during the month of Vaisakh. Special Vaisakh mahina pujas are performed in many famous temples dedicated to Lord Vishnu (Lord Krishna, Lord Narasimha, etc.) in Maharashtra.
Vaishak Shukla Paksh in 2015 starts on April 19 and ends on May 4.
Vaishakh Krishna Paksh in 2015 begins on May 4 and ends on May 18.
Akshaya Tritiya, Narasimha Jayanthi (Narsimha Chaturdashi), and Buddha Purnima (Maha Vaishakhi) are the major festivals in Vaisakh maas. Next month in traditional Hindu Marathi panchangam is – Jyeshta month.
