To invite ‘Ugadi Lakshmi’, the Tirumala Tirupati Srivari Temple (TTD), is getting ready. The temple is decked with colourful flower garlands, electric lights, green tents, rangoli designs (Muggulu), in order to welcome the Durmukhi Nama Samvatsaram (2016-2017 Hindu Year). In 2016, Ugadi festival date is April 8.
It is to note that, Ugadi marks the beginning of all celebrations in TTD Temple. It also marks the beginning of Kannada and Telugu New Year.
The celebrations begin with Swamivari Suprabhatham, Abhishekam and Thomala Seva. Ekantha Thirumanjanam is performed for Sridevi Bhudevi Sametha Sri Malayappa Swamy varu and Vishwaksena (Srivari Senadhipathi).
Pattu clothes (Silk clothes) are offered to the Lord by Jeeyangars. Moolavirattu and Utsava Murthi are decorated with the clothes and jewellery. Asthanam begins after the decoration.
Tirumala Tirupati Devasthana Asthana Siddhanthi takes the Panchangam (which is kept at the feet of Lord Venkateshwara Swamy) and performs Panchanga Sravanam.
It is to note that Koil Alwar Thirumanjanam prior to Ugadi festival will be held on 5 April 2016, Tuesday.
