Tulasi Mala is a kind of Mala (Sacred Divine Ornament), which would be available readily in puja shops, and it would be used mostly by the devotees of Lord Ayyappa, before proceeding to the Sabarimala Ayyappan Shrine, Kerala. Commonly, we can find lots and lots of grandpas and grandmas who belong to Hinduism wearing the holy Tulasi Mala on their neck and they also would use it while performing meditation. Devotees would also decorate Tulasi Mala on to the pictures and idols of the deities in their homes, by considering it as a sacred supreme divine ornament.

Even if we are unable to decorate our deity’s pictures with golden ornaments, at least, we could offer a Tulasi Mala along with some flowers, to decorate the deities in our homes in a simple manner. In general, god would not expect anything big from us, but he would expect only our sincere devotion and dedication on him, and even if we donate a small piece of cloth for decorating the deity of Lord Vinayaka, with our simple gift, the great elephant god would get satisfied and would happily wear our small piece of cloth on his waist, and would render his everlasting blessings to us.
