Today, 1 May 2012 is Thrissur Pooram, the grand temple festival of Kerala in Vadakkunnathan Temple of Thrissur district in the state. On Puram nakshatram in Medam month this jubilant festival is celebrated. In 2012, Thrissur Pooram begins with Madathil Varau at 11 am, Elanjithara Melam at 2.30 pm, Kudumattam (Royal Darbar) at 5.30 pm.
The sparkling and spectacular show of fireworks is celebrated on 2 May 2012 at 3 am.
