Mukkoti Adhyanotsavalu are celebrated with utmost gaiety in Bhadrachalam Sri Sita Ramachandra Swamy temple. On January 10, 2014, Teppotsavam will be held jubilantly at the River Godavari on the occasion of Mukkoti Dashami.
Lord Sri Rama is offered Darbar Seva in Garba Gudi (sanctum sanctorum), Vishvaksena Puja, and Punyaha vachanam. After the pujas at temple, presiding deities of the temple were taken for a procession to River Godavari banks amidst mangala vayidya and mantroccharana of Veda Pandits.
The presiding deities are taken into the beautifully decorated ‘Hamsa Vahanam (swan shaped boat). Before that Guha, who drives the boat, is offered dakshina and clothes. The boat was sanctified (samprokshana) with punya jalam.
The whole procedure of the Teppotsavam is performed according to ‘Pancharatragamana Shastram. Presiding deities are taken on to procession in River Godavari for five times following the same procedure. The crackers burst along the river banks made the festival more attractive and eye-catching.
Mukkoti Ekadashi and Mukkoti Dwadashi attracts thousands of devotees from all over the South Indian states and also from Orissa, Chhattisgarh and Maharashtra.
