Swami Nirmalananda

Swami Nirmalananda (1863-1938), was born in a wealthy family in a City at Kolkata in the year 1863. Due to his mother’s death at his childhood, his family was shifted to Varanasi, and Swami Vijnanananda was his classmate friend, who was also one of the disciples of Sri Ramakrishna.

He was an intelligent student, and completed his graduation by securing high marks in the examination. After some time, due to his spiritual thirst, he has become a disciple of Sri Ramakrishna. Through the grace of Ramakrishna, once he had the divine vision of Mata Kali at the Dakshineswar Kali Temple, and received the blessings from the divine mother.

Swami Nirmalananda preached the Hindu scriptures throughout the country, and few years later, he has become the President of Ramakrishna Math in Bangalore. He spread the Ramakrishna Movement,and founded several Mutts throughout India. He had lot of disciplined disciples with him.

At the final stage of his life, he went to the Trivandrum centre of the Ramakrishna Mission, and become the head of the Mission, and died there in the year 1938, and a temple was built for him, and still now, large number of devotees, are visiting the divine shrine.
