Lord Murugan
Sri Pamban Swamigal, who was a great saint and also a poet, and he was an ardent devotee of Lord Muruga. Pamban Swamigal wrote the popular poem, Sri Skandanubhavam, which is also praised as “Devamirtham”, the divine nectar, for the sake of Murugan’s devotees, in order to protect them from their various types of problems, and to protect them from their enemies.
It was written by him after he met Lord Muruga in a deep pit, which he himself dug it and sat there in a state of meditation for a period of few days, in order to get the divine enlightenment from Lord Muruga. In this poem, Pamban Swamigal has narrated about the divine experiences which he has faced during his meeting with Lord Muruga in the pit. If we recite Sri Skandanubhavam with pure bhakti on Lord Muruga, surely, we would get several positive results in our life.
Some of the contents present in the sacred poem, “SRI SKANDANUBHAVAM” are as follows:-
Oh My Dear Lord Muruga, I bow before you and surrender at your lotus feet. While I saw you, I was amazed with your divine beauty, and you have been surrounded by sages like Sri Agastiya and Sri Arunagirinathar.
Oh My Honourable Lord Muruga, I bow before you and surrender at your lotus feet. You appeared before me in golden colour and I was able to smell the great fragrance present on your body, you are very bright similar to the Bright Sun, and you have been wearing clean Dhoti and some ornaments were also was present on your body.
Oh My Beautiful Lord Muruga, I bow before you and surrender at your lotus feet. I can also see that have been praised by the pious sages like Sri Agastiyar and Arunagirinathar, and you have rendered your blessings to them with your lovely smile.
Oh My attractive Lord Muruga, I bow before you and surrender at your lotus feet. You have recited the “SARAVANA BHAVA”, Mantra on my ears, and after I hear that, I feel as if I have heard the wonderful Flute Music from the Flute of Lord Krishna, and after that, I have attained the complete spiritual enlightenment.
Oh My Merciful Lord Muruga, I bow before you and surrender at your lotus feet. I can also witness your wonderful Peacock vehicle, which stands in front of you in an obedient manner. You were holding the powerful “SHINING VEL” Instrument, and the cock flag, your eyes showers great mercy on me, and your hands were in the form of blessing posture. I could also witness that the divine nectar (Amirtha) flows from your mouth. You are greater than the Devas, Demons, Gods and Goddesses, you are the god of gods, and you are the most powerful warrior (SENATIPATI). I can also witness that your consorts, Ma Valli and Devasena present on your chest, and I could see their pleasing divine form.
Oh My Kind Lord Muruga, I bow before you and surrender at your lotus feet. I can also witness the rose garlands present on your body, which gives good fragrance and it adds more beauty to you, you have applied the sacred ash on your forehead and you look very handsome.
Oh My Sweet Lord Muruga, I bow before you and surrender at your lotus feet. Your hair is neatly dressed and covered with some special kind of ornaments. Your diamond earrings are amazing and it gives much radiance. Your eyes appear like the golden fish, and you wore the sacred thread on your body. Your face is as much brighter than the divine gods, and I can’t find more words to praise you.
