Sravana somavaram (Mondays in Shravana masam) is an auspicious day for Shiva Puja. It is observed with utmost fervor in Srisailam temple which is dedicated to Lord Mallikarjuna swamy (Shiva).
Not only Srisailam, but many more Shiva temples in Andhra Pradesh & Karnataka attract lakhs of devotees for special pujas. Particularly in Srisailam, devotees visit the temple after bathing in Pathalaganga (River Krishna) and offer special Abhishekam to the Lord. Jalabhishekam, Ksheerabhishekam & Panchamrutha Abhishekam are the special rituals observed on these days.
