Sholingaswami Temple, Kannivadi, Dindigul

Sri Sholingaswami Temple is situated in the village known as as Somalingapuram, near Kannivadi, in Dindigul, in Tamil Nadu. The main deity of this shrine is Sholingaswami (Lord Shiva). The shrine is nearly 500 years old. The holy tree in the shrine premises is Vilwa and the holy theertham is Vedhi theertham.

Lord Shiva immediately granted their wishes and desires. Later a Shivalinga was installed by them at this spot. As per the Hindu religious scholars and pundits, there is uniqueness in its shrine history. Kundalini Siddha, Meikandar, Mukthanandar, Vazhayanandar, Great Siddhas and others assembled at this place to perform penance seeking wholeheartedly Lord Shiva’s darshan.

The shrine remains open for   ardent followers plus admirers from early morning to mid noon and later in the early evening hours to dusk with daily fixed schedules. In this temple, Shivarathri day is celebrated with festivity.

Important festivals that are grandly celebrated in this shrine are Aadi Amavasya-new moon day in July-August, Chitra Poornima in April-May,  Tirukarthikai in November-December, all Pradosham days and Annabishekam in October-November.

Ardent followers plus admirers from different parts of Tamil Nadu visit this particular shrine in order to removal of obstacle in marriage talks, women pray for longevity of husbands, the safety of their mangalasutras and follow-ups of the past birth’s bad effects. On the other hand, ardent followers plus admirers conduct abishek to Lord Shiva before and after realizing their desires and wishes.
