Shiva Lingam and its significance

Shiva Lingam is a stone, which has got a unique shape and superior value across the entire world, as it is being treated as the form of Hindu deity Lord Shiva. According to the Experts’ opinions and definitions, it is oval shaped stone which symbolizes the Universe and the base below the oval shaped stone symbolizes the stand holding the entire universe.

It has a scientific evidence that a stone having a shape of Shiva Lingam, which almost an ellipsoid can be a powerhouse of energy. It has been the subject of many researches based on the divine existence and religion beliefs.

On the worshipping front, Shiva Lingam has been treated as none other than Lord Shiva by the Hindus and other religions. It is believed that Lord Shiva exists in the form of Lingam and they are reluctant to treat it as a stone which also considered as an offence.

Since ages, right from the first Yuga, all the Gods, sages, devotees and even demons worship Lord Shiva in the form of Lingam and perform further activities like Abhishekam and Archana.

The epics like Linga Purana show Lord Shiva as a pillar of fire, testing the sincere attitudes and approaches of the other two Gods, Lord Brahma and Lord Vishnu, thereby explaining his supremacy over the latter two. All the popular shrines in India, including the mighty holistic Varanasi, have the form of Lord Shiva in Shiva Lingam. Shiva Lingams in some temples have been installed, while the ones in the popular Shrines, for instance all the Jyothirlingams, have occurred naturally and originated by themselves.
