Lalbaugcharaja Ganpati, the most famous Ganesh Pandal in Mumbai, will have its replica for Ganesh Chaturthi 2010 in Pune. It is the great news for Pune devotees who throng Mumbai to have darshan of Lalbaugcha Raja Ganesh every year. Ganpati Chowk Mitramandal of Pune will build a replica of Lalbaugcha Raja Ganesh at Budhwar Peth. The Mandal named the idol Mumbaicha Raja. The 16-foot idol will be the tallest idol the city has never witnessed. In 2010, Ganesh Chowk Mitramandal of Pune will celebrate their 21st anniversary.
This giant Ganesh idol in Pune is being made by Santosh Tak and Avinash Jindam of Varam Arts in Yerawda. “We have been making it for the last three months. Initially, we made a clay idol using 1,750 kg of clay. With the help of this, we created the mould and finally the plaster of Paris (POP) idol will be created using 275 kg POP. The ornaments such as uparna and peetambar have been ordered from Mumbai,” said Tak.
The Ganesh mandal would resemble the temple of Lalbaugcha Raja and the mandal has spent Rs 3.21 lakh on the idol, eight pillars, eight arches, entrance gate and so on.
