The Lord will be away from his devotees till Amavasya (29 June 2022) and comes up with Navayavvana rupa on Netrotsava (30 June 2022). Netrotsava marks the beginning of celebrations of Puri Jagannath Rath Yatra.

Rath yatra 2022 date is July 1. The three deities will leave to Gundicha temple on three rathas known as Nandi ghosh ratha, Thaaladhwaja ratha, and Darpadalan ratha. The deities stay at Gundicha temple for 9 days. Hera Panchami (July 4, 2022 – Ashada Shukla Panchami) marks the jubilant celebrations in Gundicha temple.

Lord Jagannath will return to Sri Kshetra on 10^th day of chariot festival. This return journey of Rath yatra is referred to as Bahuda yatra (9 July 2022). Sunavesha festival is celebrated on Dwadasi day (11 July 2022). This day is also known as Jagannath Maha Ekadashi. Devotees observe fast to please Lord Jagannath on this Ekadashi day.

On Ashada Shukla Chaturdashi (12 July 2022), Pohandi festival is held to three deities – Jagannath, Balbhadra, and Subhadra. This marks the end of Jagannath Rath Yatra in Puri.

Rath Yatra starts and leaves to Gundicha Temple – 3.30 pm

On the occasion of Rath Yatra Orissa Tourism department has started information centers and enquiry spots at Puri Singadwar (Puri entrance), Railway station of Puri, Mahodadhi, Gundicha temple, Town Thana, Bodo Shonkho, Hospital junction, Jadeswari mandir, West entrance, and Balagandi junction. Devotees can get informational brochures, books, and other details will also be available at the above centers.
