Peddamma Talli Brahmotsavam or the annual Mahotsavam is the grand festival celebrated at Peddamma Gudi (Peddamma temple) in Hyderabad which starts on Vasanta Panchami (February 12, 2016) and ends on Magha Shukla Ashtami (February 15, 2016).
Ratha Saptami Rathotsavam is the eye-catching event during the Mahotsavam.
Varshika Mahotsavams begins with Abhishekam to Ammavaru at 3 AM on 12 February. At 7.25 AM, Special Pujas are performed by Temple Founder Sri P Janardhan Reddy family members. Pallaki Seva of Ammavari Utsavamurthi will be performed at 8 PM.
On 13th February 2016, Ammavari Abhishekam is performed. Samuhika Sri Lalitha Sahasranama Kumkumarchana will be at 10 AM.
On 14th February 2016, Abhishekam, Navagraha Homam, Rudra Homam and Chandi Homam at 10 AM. 11 AM – Diklapaka Bhairava Baliharanam, 12 Noon – Rathapooja, 12.05 PM – Purnahuthi, 6 PM – Peddamma Thalli Rathotsavam, Visesha Baanasancha (Fire crackers).
Rathotsavam is celebrated at Sri Peddamma temple on 14 February in view of Ratha Sapthami festival. The Mahotsavam will be concluded on the same day with a grand recital of vedic chants.
On Ratha Saptami day, prayers begin with ‘Abhishekam’ at 3 a.m. followed by ‘Navagraha Homam,’ ‘Rudra Homam’, ‘Chandi Homam’, ‘Dikpala Bhairava Baliharanam’, ‘Purnahuti’ and ‘Annadanam’.
Peddamma Temple, located at Jubilee Hills in Hyderabad, is one of the famous temples in Hyderabad in fact in Telangana region of Andhra Pradesh. Some other major celebrations of Peddamma temple are – Chaitra Navaratri (Vasanta Navaratri), Bonalu Jathara, Shakambari Utsavam, and Devi Sharan Navaratri (Durga Maha Navaratri).
During the 4-day festival, on Ratha Saptami day in 2012, bronze Shankha, Chakra, and Trishul were inaugurated.
