No Thermocol for Ganesh Festival 2011 in Mumbai

Thermocol is one of the most used items in Ganesh pandal decorations in Mumbai, Pune, Thane, Nagpur, and all other cities in Maharashtra. For Ganesh Festival 2011, Government of Maharashtra has decided to impose a strict ban on the use of thermocol during the Ganesh festival in order to celebrate the Ganesh utsav in eco-friendly way. It is to note that Ganesh Chaturthi festival 2011 date is September 1.

The list of dos and don’ts has already been prepared which will be issued to Ganesh mandals in September for strict implementation. The Government is also planning to make this festival noise-free. Thermocol lies as waste in environment, very hard to recycle and can cause severe environmental pollution.
