Neela Jyeshta Vrat is an auspicious Vrata observed in Shravan Month. Especially, it falls on Ashtami day which coincides with Sunday. And if it falls on Jyeshta Nakshatra then it is considered highly auspicious and meritorious.
Neela Jyeshta Vrat is dedicated to Surya Bhagavan. Surya Puja is performed on this day and special Naivedyam is offered to the ‘Pratyaksha Paramatma’ Sri Surya Bhagawan.
It is to note that famous Vratas dedicated to Lord Surya are – Ratha Saptami, Bhanu Saptami, Chhath Puja (Surya Shashti), Makara Sankranti and Aditya Pujan in Shravan Maas.
