Sri Narasinga Perumal temple is located in the sub-town named as Mela Mada Veedhi in the district of Tirunelveli, in the state of Tamil Nadu in South India. The primary Lord of this temple is Narasimhar (Lord Vishnu) and his consort is Mahalakshmi.
The festival deity of this temple is Sreenevasa perumal. The agamam or pooja of this shrine is known as vaigasanam. This temple is approximately 1000-2000 years old in this area. The historical name of this religious place is Mela Mada Veedhi. The holy tree of this shrine is Vilwa. The holy water of this temple is natural spring.
It is to be noted that festivals of this shrine are Vaikunta Ekadasi in December-January, Purattasi Saturdays in September-October, Narasimha Jayanthi, Swati Star days are the festivals of the temples, special pujas and rituals are conducted on Pradosham days – 13th day of new moon or full moon fortnights.
It is one of the ancient temples in this region that is largely dedicated to Lord Vishnu and thronged by devotees and pilgrims in large number on all auspicious and religious important days with much festivity.
The temple is open for all the devotees and pilgrims from 8.00 a.m. to 10.30 a.m. and from 5.30 a.m. to 8.00 p.m. In this temple, as thanks giving, devotees and pilgrims light a lamp called as Neeranjana Deepam. They also offer oil, coconut and rice to the Lord. They indulge in breaking the coconut and it that coconut shell pouring the oil and lighting it as a mark of thanking the Lord for the desires and dreams getting fulfilled with the prayer.
