Mukkoti Dwadasi 2013

Mukkoti Dwadasi is observed on Dwadasi in Shukla Paksha of Dhanurmasam as per the Vaishnava sampradaya followed in Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka.

In 2013, there is no Mukkoti Dwadasi as there is no Shukla Paksha Dwadasi of Dhanurmasam in this year. As Dhanurmasam continues till 13 January 2013, Mukkoti Dwadasi of 23 December 2012 is considered as for this year too.

Mukkoti Dwadasi has great significance for Vaishnava sect of Hindus who consider it as a highly meritorious day to perform Vishnu Puja.

Mukkoti Pradakshinam in Tirumala Tirupati Temple allows common devotees to visit Lord Venkateshwara from the nearest. Swami Pushkarini Tirtham is considered highly meritorious tirtham to perform Punya Snanam (ritual bath) on Mukkoti Dwadasi.

Mukkoti Dwadasi is also referred to as Vaikunta Dwadasi in Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu; and Swargavathil Dwadasi in Kerala.
