Mandavi, Wife of Bharata (Ramayana)

According to Ramayana, Mandavi is the daughter of King Kushadhwaja and Queen Chandrabhaga. And his father, Kushadhwaja is the brother of King Janaka.

Mandavi is believed to have been born in Rajbiraj, Nepal. Mandavi got married with Rama’s younger brother Bharat, and they had two sons. Her younger sister was Shrutakirti and she got married with Shatrughna.

Mandavi was a pious, noble and a worshipful chaste woman, who contains wisdom, courage and braveness. She served as a dutiful wife to her consort Bharat, and similar to him, she also worshipped Lord Rama in a proper manner, and considered him as her own brother.

She maintained friendly relationship with Mata Sita and served them during their stay in the palace of Ayodhya in a wonderful manner. She used to obey the orders of her husband, and never disrespected him, and she acts as an example for others.

Let us worship the holy woman and be blessed.
