During 19th century, there lived a siddhar in sri Lanka known as Kadaiyir Swamigal. He was born and brought up in a village in Tamil Nadu. Before becoming a siddhar, he was serving as a Judge, and giving proper judgements. Once he was disinterested in his job, and become a spiritual saint. After some time he went to Sri Lanka along with his well-wisher Sri Vairamutu Chettiar.
Kadayir Swamigal was a great saint, who contains very good qualities, and lived his life in Srilanka by taking alms, and chanted the holy mantra “OM NAMAH SHIVAYA” and asked others to do so. Though he was compelled by Vairamuthu Chettiar to regularly have his food at his annadana choultry, he refused, and lived his life by begging food in the streets. He was such a great and a high level spiritual siddha, and in this today’s world, we can’t find such a great saint.
At the initial stages, he was considered by other people in Sri Lanka as a mad man, and ill-treated and misbehaved with him. But even then, though he has got sufficient powers to curse, he didn’t do so, but instead, he smiled and blessed them. In course of time, people began to realize his power, and given great respect and welcomed him to their homes. He didn’t speak much, but always chanted the glorious names of Lord Shiva, and used to chant Rudram and Chamakam, since he was a great Shiva Bhakta.
He didn’t see the people with regard to their caste, creed and religion. He showed great love and affection even to his enemies, and changed them into his friend. He also relieved the dreaded diseases of his devotees and showed them the spiritual path. He performed many miracles in the life of his devotees, and removed their bad thoughts, cleansed their mind, removed the sufferings in their life, and changed them as the devotees of Lord Shiva. He used to wear only a small cloth, and didn’t have any belongings with him. He had performed meditation on Lord Shiva for several days, even without having food.
He attained Mahasamadhi in Yazhpanam, Sri Lanka.
Let us worship the great saint and be blessed.
