GHMC Eco-friendly idols for Ganesh Chaturthi 2022 in Hyderabad – GHMC, Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation, will supply eco-friendly Ganapathi idols for this Vinayaka Chavithi?

GHMC is planning to distribute / sell Clay Ganesh idols for this Ganesh Chaturthi with the association of PCB (Pollution Control Board). In 2022, Vinayaka Chavithi Utsavams begins on August 31 (Ganesh Chaturthi) and ends on September 9 (Anantha Chaturdashi).

According to the press release from the officials of GHMC, The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC), for the second consecutive year, has offered moulds and material for preparing clay Ganesh idols to schools in the city to propagate the concept of eco-friendly idols during the forthcoming Vinayaka Chaturthi festivities.

Interacting with representatives of various voluntary groups and teachers from different educational institutions in Hyderabad, GHMC Commissioner said that the interested schools can register themselves with officials of the Health and Sanitation wing.

In response to a suggestion by NGOs on restricting the height of idols, the official said it was for the government to take a decision.

To another suggestion, GHMC officials promised to explore the possibilities of extending financial support to artisans preparing clay idols from next year.

The NGOs also proposed adding colours using vegetable dyes to the clay idols to make them more attractive and score over the idols made with plaster of paris.

The HMDA is making arrangements to distribute 8” Clay Ganesh Idols of 60,000
Nos. to the Public, NGO’s at free of cost to encourage use of Clay Ganesh Idols , so as to
create awareness in the public in protection of the environment. The HMDA is making
distribution every year and also this year at 33 locations in Hyderabad. The arrangements
are made to distribute directly to the public at various locations and also on mobile vans
involving the HMDA Staff and Officers in the work.

The distribution will be made at the following locations on 28 August 2019 to
30 August 2019 and the following officers are available at the locations and may contact on
their mobile phone numbers for any details on the distribution of Clay Ganesh Idols.

Meanwhile, the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) has informed that eco-friendly eight-inch Ganesha idols would be made available at Rs.12.50 and requisitions for the same could be made in the application available at ‘www.hmda.gov.in/pressrelease.html’.
