Today, 9 September 2013 is Ganesh Chaturthi, Vinayaka Chavithi festival (Parthiva Ganesha Pujan). It marks the beginning of Ganapati Navratri celebrations in Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Gujarat, and many other North Indian states.

Ganesh Chaturthi falls on Shukla Paksha (bright fortnight) of Bhadrapada Month in Hindu calendar.
