EME Temple, Dakshinamurty Temple, Vadodara, Gujarat

The EME Temple or “Dakshinamurty Temple is located in the city of Vadodara, in the state of Gujarat, in Western India. It is run by Indian Army Authorities.

It is a Shiva temple that is largely visited by the military and non-military population of this region with great devotion and dedication. This particular temple is a major attraction for pilgrims, devotees and tourist.

It is to be noted that this shrine is a special and unique in concept and design. It is built according to the geodesic structure that is largely covered with aluminium sheets.

The temple has got the name EME Temple because the temple was built by the Electrical and Mechanical Engineering (EME) Corps.

The temple is open from 6.00 a.m. to 11.00 a.m. and 4.00 p.m. to 8.30 p.m for pilgrims and devotees. People with devotion and dedication visit this temple from far and near.  In the main hall of the Shrine of Lord is facing towards south.

The annual festival of this temple is Shivarathri. This festival is celebrated every thirteenth or fourteenth day of Phalguna or Maagha month of Hindu calendar. On this day the Hindu devotees especially women perform ‘puja’ worshiping Lord Shiva.

The temple is thronged by devotees and pilgrims on Maha Shivarathri day from nook and corner of the district and rest of Gujarat. On religious auspicious days and festive days, the temple remains open throughout the day for devotees and pilgrims. Shivarathri is celebrated in grand manner in this temple with the active participation of devotees and pilgrims. It is one of the sought after temple in Vadodara. There is no restriction for the civilian population in visiting this particular temple.
