Ekadashi shraddha is the eleventh day of Pitru Paksha. Also known as Indira Ekadasi, this Pitru Paksha Ekadashi falls in Krishna Paksha of Ashwin month in North Indian Hindi calendars and in Bhadrapad month as per Marathi, Gujarati, Telugu & Kannada Panchangams.
In 2025, Ekadashi Shraddh date is September 16.
Apart from Shraddh tharpan rituals, Vishnu Puja is also performed on this day for Vishnu loka prapthi for dead ancestors.
One needs to perform Shraddh rituals to those who had passed away untimely.
Benefits or the merits of doing Ekadashi Shraddha is – This is called the Pithru paripalana tharpanam. This is to compensate Pithrus for many of their things which we are using. They would become happy if we do it.
