Ekadashi fasting or Vrats in December 2010 are most auspicious and most celebrated Ekadasi vrata. The first Ekadasi vrat in December 2010 is Uthpanna Ekadasi or Uthpatti Ekadashi (1 December 2010) and the second one is Mokshada Ekadashi (17 December 2010). Utpatti Ekadasi is the first Ekadasi vrat which is associated with the legend of Ekadashi Mata (the Goddess of Ekadashi). Both the Ekadasi of December falls in Margasirsha month as per North Indian Hindi calendar.
Uthpatti Ekadashi falls on Krishna Paksha Ekadashi in Margashirsha month as per Hindi calendar and on Krishna Paksha Ekadashi in Kartik month as per Gujarati, Marathi, Telugu, and Kannada calendar. Uthpanna Ekadashi is observed as Thriprayar Ekadashi in Kerala.
Mokshada Ekadasi falls on Shukla Paksha Ekadasi in Margashira month as per all Indian Hindu lunar calendars. It is also known as Vaikunta Ekadashi or Mukkoti Ekadasi in Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, and Karnataka. Mokshada Ekadasi is popularly observed as Swargavathil Ekadasi in Kerala.
