Divyachi Amavasya 2022

Divyachi Amavasya is Amavasya or No Moon in Aashad Month. In 2022, Divyachi Amavasya date is July 28. Since ‘Deepa Puja’ (Diya Puja) is performed on this day, it is referred to as Divyachi Amavasya.

On this day, Diyas are lighted at Puja place. Lighting diyas on this provides all sorts of wealth to the performer. The puja place is sanctified with fresh water and decorated with colourful Rangoli designs.

In Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, this Amavasya is celebrated as Chukkala Amavasya. Gauri Puja is the main ritual of Chukkala Amavasya.

In Karnataka, Bheemana Amavasya or Bhima Amavasy (Pathi Sanjivini Vrata / Jyotir Bheemeswara Vrata) is observed on Ashada Amavasi by married women for better health and longer life of their husband.

Gatari Amavasya is observed in Maharashtra on Ashadi Amavasya which welcomes Shravan mahina in grand manner.
